Metro Driving School follows the authorized Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) Junior Operator License (JOL) Driver’s Education Curriculum.

A learner’s permit is not required to begin the classroom portion of driver’s education; however, it is required before starting the on-the-road lessons.

Full Course Consists of the:

30 hours of classroom instruction covering all 15 RMV modules
12 hours of behind-the-wheel training
6 hours of observation time
2-hour mandatory parent/guardian class
RMV-approved final exam

Important Information:

Since not all students use the driving school’s vehicle for their road test, the separate fee for use of our vehicle and time as your test sponsor is not included in tuition. This fee varies depending on the RMV testing station where your road test is scheduled.

Drivers Ed Certificates

Upon successful completion of all Massachusetts RMV driver’s education requirements, the RMV will issue a Driver’s Ed Certificate number in their system. A $15 fee is payable to the RMV through the driving school to process this certificate.
Beyond providing essential skills and knowledge for safe driving, this certificate may also qualify you for insurance discounts.

Road Test Information

JOL students must have held their learner’s permit for at least 6 months and completed driver’s education before scheduling a road test.
If Metro Driving School is your road test sponsor (the standard arrangement), we will schedule the road test for you.
If you are using your own vehicle and taking the road test independently, you will need to schedule the road test yourself.

Missed Classes/Cancellation Policy

If a student misses any classroom RMV module session, they must make up the exact module missed.
All driver’s education requirements must be completed within 1 year of the start date to avoid additional fees.
On-the-road driving lessons require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling; otherwise, a $45 fee applies.

All payments are non-refundable.
